Story Behind The Barnwood-1917 Barn Pictures

Instead of trying to retell the story everytime I post a new barn wood item for sell, I decided to make this page and let people click on a link if they are interested in hearing "The rest of the story".
My husbands parents moved into an old farm house way back when he was in elementary school in the late 1960s.  The barn was there at that time and when the original house was built in 1917, it was already on the land.  That is where documents stop.  All we know for sure is that it is at least 96 years old.  I'm still researching to see if I can find more.
Addendum:
I also don't have a picture of it before it was hit by a tornado almost four years ago now, but it was a beautiful two story barn about 1500 sq. ft. with a loft and a barn owl living in it too.  Below are some pictures of the remains of the barn and some close up pictures of the wood.  I also included a picture where you can see how close it was to our house, yet our house was untouched.  There was also a steel barn closer to the house that was levelled to the ground.  God was watching out for us that night when we were sound asleep at 2:00am.

I've found some interesting, but contradictory information.  I was told that when the original house was built, the barn was already here, but, now I know that the house, barn, and livestock pens were all part of a housing deal around the Great Depression.  The size of the house, barn, and pens, depended on family size, so the original family that lived here, must have been huge!  The construction date is still 1917, and that doesn't seem to make sense, but I'm still looking for the exact "Law" or "Act" that funded this housing project.  Keep you updated when I find new facts.
